About Us

Airdrie Ebenezer Evangelical Church is an independent Christian church led by a group of Elders and supported by a group of Deacons and a group of Trustees.

With Jesus Christ, the living Son of God, as our Head, the leadership of the church operates under His authority alone. Our church is completely autonomous and we function without any intervention from other churches or organisations.

We model our church on the basis of the early church recorded in the New Testament, in the book of Acts as below:

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Acts 2:42

Why are we named 'Ebenezer'?

Firstly, it’s nothing to do with Scrooge!

‘Ebenezer’ is a Hebrew word that means ‘Stone of Help’.

It appears in the Old Testament in 1 Samuel when God delivers Israel a mighty victory over their enemies and Samuel set up a stone to comemorate the victory and to remember how God had helped His people in a difficult time.

Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen and called its name Ebenezer; for he said, “Till now the Lord has helped us.”

1 Samuel 7:12
